Sebring Soda Fest Announces Celebrity Mixologist

SEBRING, Fla. - The Sebring Soda Festival (April 6-7) is proud to announce that Brenda Terry, an award-winning cocktail artist known for her passion behind the bar and her mix of imaginative, aromatic and balanced cocktails, will serve as the Celebrity Mixologist at the festival's Pop & Fizz Cocktail Tasting & Pairing Party on April 7.   

Sebring Chamber Recognizes Locals, Businesses

SEBRING — When the Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce gave out awards at its annual banquet Thursday, Hurricane Irma was at least a consideration indirectly.

Three of the awards were presented to businesses or individuals for their work to help the community recover.

Chamber President and CEO Liz Barber said it wasn’t the intent of the chamber to give out awards related to the hurricane, but those making the decisions saw a trend of nominations of people or businesses relating to the hurricane.

4th Annual Sizzlin' Summer Spin 'N Win Has Prizes, Games, Food & Fun!

It was an evening of chance, but it was an evening of much more as hundreds gathered Thursday evening, July 27, at the Sebring Chamber's 4th Annual Sizzlin' Summer Spin 'N Win at the Island View Restaurant, presented by Comcast Business. 

As guests arrived, they were presented a lei at the check in table outside and a Bahama Mama beverage after coming through the door by a hula girl. 

Sebring Chamber Hosts 2nd Annual Legislative Review Luncheon

SEBRING — The Florida Legislature progressed on a few issues this past session, local legislators said this week.

One issue involved funding for Enterprise Florida and Visit Florida programs, said State Rep. Cary Pigman, R-Avon Park.

While Gov. Rick Scott wanted to continue funding of the programs, some legislators wanted to defund them because of past questionable expenditures, Pigman said.

Humane Society Hosts July's Sebring Chamber Mixer

SEBRING — It won’t be long before the dogs at the Highlands County Humane Society shelter have a chance to cool off during the hot summer.

Judy Spiegel, president of the Humane Society, unveiled the new doggy pool during a Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce mixer. She said a couple anonymously donated money for the construction of the concrete pool in memory of Buffy, their Shih Tzu, who died recently.

The pool is large enough to hold 10 dogs, as long as the dogs get along, she said.

Sebring Chamber Mixer Celebrates International Museum Day

The Peter Powell Roberts Museum in Avon Park celebrated their first anniversary on May 18, which was also “International Museum Day.” The celebration was a full-day event as the venue also hosted the Tri-Chamber Mixer in the evening.

Guests were welcomed by Fred and Gail Leavitt and Norma Evans with the Heartland Cultural Alliance (HCA). Soft and relaxing guitar music was provided by Kenny Summers.

Sebring Chamber & Alan Jay Award Scholarships to Sebring Seniors

Eight Sebring High School seniors were recognized for their academic achievements and community involvement, and three received scholarships Wednesday at the Alan Jay Automotive Network and Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce’s 24th annual Scholarship Awards Recognition Banquet.

The scholarship candidates were previously interviewed for a chance to win scholarships, which this year each included a $2,000, a $3,000 and a $4,000 scholarship.

Colleen Dukes of Career Source Heartland Speaks at July Luncheon

The Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce held it's networking luncheon on July 14, and this month's sponsor was The Palms of Sebring. The Palms was extremely generous with their sponsorship (once again), and donated their speaking time to CareerSource Heartland, our local workforce organziation. The keynote speaker was Colleen Dukes, Business Operations Manager at CareerSource. The event was well attended with members of local business community who came to meet, greet and eat.

Humane Society Mixer a HUGE Success

On July 21, Sebring Chamber members gathered to mix, mingle and network at the monthly Sebring Chamber After-Hours Mixer. The well-attended July mixer was sponsored by the Humane Society of Highlands County. With over 100 people in attendance, the mixer was a unique and fun location, allowing attendees to see how far the local Humane Society has come in the recent years with the support of the local donors. The event was so successful that one of our Chamber members, Pat Dell of the Dell Realty Team adopted two dogs that are brother & sister.

Sebring Chamber Announces Centennial Celebration Brick Program

The Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce and the downtown Sebring chamber building, also known as the Board of Trade building, are celebrating their 100th birthday this year.

For the chamber’s centennial year, individuals and businesses can “leave their own lasting legacy for all to see” by sponsoring a personalized brick to be placed at the chamber office’s front entrance.
